Genre: Creative Writing / Satirical Fiction

This long-form humor piece is written in the form of a mock news report chronicling the misadventures of two lovable, small-town “inventors” who believe they’ve discovered the microwave oven. I wrote this story to playfully satirize pseudo-science, media sensationalism, and the enduring charm of characters who live enthusiastically out of sync with modern life. Framed through the dry, deadpan voice of fictional reporter Todd Farley, the piece blends absurdity, characterization, and dialogue to deliver a warm, comedic narrative with a nod to classic Americana.

In developing this piece, I applied skills in long-form storytelling, character voice development, and editorial pacing—key tools I bring to both creative and commercial writing projects. “Hackbart and Snead” serves as a showcase of my ability to construct fully realized worlds and engage readers through layered humor and narrative style.
